Well well well, the letter I've been waiting for has finally arrived in my beautiful email :) I got my Conditional Acceptance Letter, so that means I'm heading onto the next stage of my journey!

I submitted my CV, passport scan and the payment fee on the 15th of April - 2 days before the deadline. After that was sent, I had to wait for my CAL to arrive. The Canadian Government stated that it normally takes within 2 weeks for them to process your application, look at your CV and get back to you. I only had to wait for 9 days and it was the longest wait ever. On the 24th of April, I threw my laptop on the floor as I screamed. I saw the words: "We are pleased to confirm that...." and praised the Lord. (My laptop was okay in the end.)

Excitement over. I have another deadline to meet. I need to send off a police check and that comes with a checklist of what to include:

  • A digital image

  • Scanned copies of proof of address

  • Upload the CAL onto the application. It's only valid for 14 days so I need to get a move on.

I thought I'd update my mum about all of this because it was getting real. She seemed quite surprised. It wasn't really the reaction I was looking for. "You're really doing this? This is really happening?" she asked me. "Yes, course I am," I replied, still grinning from that email.

My mum supports me 100% with this Canada journey, but I think she's quite shocked at how big this step is for me and that I'm actually getting out of my comfort zone for once. Out of all my siblings, my mum always told me that I was the awkward one and I was the one who preferred chilling in my room alone. Yes, that's somewhat true. In comparison to my sister and her 5478 friends, I was the one who had the same circle of friends since secondary school and I was the one who had confidence issues. Well, times have changed and it looks like your daughter is now spreading her wings.

Watch this space.
